Why Phone Batteries Do Not Last as Long as Electronic Vehicle Batteries

We often keep wondering the main reason behind the fast drainage of a phone battery but are unable to find a concrete one. Moreover, on the contrary the battery of an electronic vehicle lasts much longer as compared to that of a polymer smartphone battery. There exists not one but various reasons associated with such a difference in durability between the polymer smartphone battery and that of an electronic vehicle. From the amount of usage to opting for ultra-fast chargers there exists numerous factors that affect the durability and long-lasting capacity of the battery of any particular device. Various components and factors in a combined action impact the durability of the batteries which keeps changing as per their usage over a period of time. Moreover, there even exist various myths that are associated with this particular aspect.

Why Electric Vehicles Battery Lasts Longer Than Phone Battery?

Owing to the greater amount of technological and scientific advent, electric vehicles (EV) have become the new buzzword in this modern era. Just like a smartphone, electronic vehicles function on batteries rather than on fuels. Moreover, both smartphones and electric vehicles are made of lithium-ion batteries. But it is often seen that even though the usage of both smartphones and electron vehicles are the same, the phone batteries tend to drain at a faster rate as compared to those of electric vehicles.

It is imperative to mention here that there is not one but various factors associated with this particular arena of the batteries of both devices. The batteries do not have any particular life span, nor do they stop functioning suddenly, their capacity decreases gradually over a period of time. Many people are of the view that the batteries of electric vehicles tend to last longer since they are made double the size as compared to polymer smartphone batteries. However, the doubling of the size of a battery does not result in longer durability rather it is extra components in the battery of an electronic vehicle that results in longer life of batteries as compared to the polymer smartphone batteries

Difference Between the Electric Vehicle Battery and Smartphone Battery

The manufacturers of electric vehicles use lead-acid in the batteries of the electronic vehicles that increases the energy density of the batteries. However, the polymer smartphone batteries do not consist of lead-acid as their main components thereby having a low energy density leading to faster charge drainage.

A smartphone is usually charged when it completely runs off its battery or at the end of the day. This implies that the user usually has complete access to the stored energy of the polymer smartphone batteryWhen the battery of the smartphone is new the battery provides a longer duration of usage but gradually with use the lifespan of the polymer smartphone battery reduces to a considerable extent due to a lower energy density of the batteries.

The low energy density of the smartphone batteries provides the users with a lower optimization of battery usage which results in faster drainage of charge with continuous use. It is imperative to mention here that even the capacity of batteries of the electronic vehicles tends to decrease with time and usage but the larger size of batteries of the electronic vehicles provides the users with a longer running time as compared to smartphone batteries. When the batteries are oversized only half of the stored energy is used during the charging process. The other half is stored for later use which accounts for a longer duration of the batteries.

Moreover, the use of ultrafast chargers is another reason that results in a decreased battery life of the smartphone batteries. The batteries of the electronic vehicles do not employ the use of ultrafast chargers thereby providing users with longer life. As a solution to their problems, users can opt for the OEM mobile batteries.

The batteries of both smartphones and electronic vehicles consist of lithium-ion systems in their batteries. However, the batteries of the EVs provide longer durability than those of smartphones due to more energy density, larger size, etc.
